I knew, from the moment I saw the previews, that I would like this movie. Do you every have that feeling? That no matter what happened in the movie you were going to like it? I have had it a few times & this was one of them.

August Rush: the movie starts out in present day with an 11 year old orphan boy who hears music in everything around him. For some reason he knows that if he can capture that music and play it, his real parents will find him. I don't want to give much else away as it'll take away from the magic of the movie. I've heard the movie described as fairy tale like and I agree. Oh & yes I shed many tears during it.
Talent: the actors

Keri Russell - his mom who comes from a classical background (cellist).
Jonathan Rhys Meyers - his dad who comes from a rock band & irish background.
Terrence Howard - a social worker who actually cares. I've seen this actor in 'the Brave One', 'Crash', and 'Awake' and I've liked his work in all of those.
Robin Williams - lets just say I liked him better when he played a happier character like Mrs. Doubtfire.
*Another movie with Keri Russell that I love is 'The Curve'.
If you haven't seen it you MUST check this one out.

August Rush was a freakin amazing movie! we rented it without ever hearing mucha bout it, but michael and I both love the little boy actor (not from either movie you listed though as i have yet to see those ones actually)
ReplyDeletekerri russell suprised me in this movie, but maybe because she wasn't the "main character" per say, though a major role of course. She did well. I will disagree with you about the Waitress - I found that movie to be completely trashy and not even deservant of half a star of my scale and I couldn't even finish watching it! so she saved herself slightly in August Rush (but to be honest, it could have been played by any other actress and I would have been just as happy)
But yes, AR=great material and will be added to our library soon enough! Along with Alvin and the Chipmunks, another movie that I watched with the feeling it was going to be kind of dumb, but it was SO good we've actually rented it twice (2nd time so our nephew could watch it at his sleepover at our house) and i've already watched it 3 times! WIll also be added to our collection in the near future..
yup, oh and if I were single, i'd definetly email Nate - it's quite a good looking guy!!

Okay first I have to comment about your comment about Waitress. You said you couldn't finish watching it which I think is why you didn't like it. The ending of it was what made me like it the most! So you may have to re-rent that one ha ha
ReplyDeleteOh I was going to comment about Alvin & the Chipmunks too. I liked this one okay but didn't love it. Maybe I wasn't in a good enough mood or something but it just wasn't awsome for me. Which saddens me as I love Jason Lee ("Dave").
well, what i did was watched the first half hour, skipped a scene, watched half a scene, skipped it, watched part of the next scene, fast forwarded... did the that the whole movie, so i saw the end and i still hated it lol sorry crystal, one movie we'll definetly disagree on!
ReplyDeletei hate disagreeing, but it had to happen sometime, right? :-D
